About Martin Roofing

Martin Roofing has been in Charlottesville since 1937 when Earl Martin opened up the western branch office of NW Martin, founded in Richmond in 1906.

Eventually Martin Roofing became independent of NW Martin, and in 1974 moved to it's current location on Avon Street Extended.

In 1991 Martin Roofing was acquired from the Martin family, and today is owned by Marc Bridenhagen and Wayne Sullivan.

Over the past 75 years the company has been known for both it's roofing and sheet metal work, as well as heating and air conditioning installations. During World War II the company produced airplane sheet metal parts in support of the war effort.

Today the company continues its work in roofing and sheet metal with expertise and experience in all types of roofing, both residential and commercial, as well as operating a large and well-equipped sheet metal shop.

We are old fashioned in our values and current in our belief that all customers should be treated as we would like to be treated. Fairness, honesty, and loyalty to both our customers and employees is something we value highly.

We have many customers whom we have served for decades and we have many employees who have worked with us for decades — the longest having worked with us for 52 years, and he is still working today!

Our Team

Marc Bridenhagen

Marc Bridenhagen — President

Marc's primary responsibility is commercial roofing and the sheet metal shop. The new Darden School North Grounds Campus as well as the roofs over the Main Street Market are example of commercial roofing projects. Marc also works with residential roofing and is particularly interested in historic restoration and renovation. Monticello, Montpelier, and Farmington Country Club, Jefferson addition, are among many historical properties protected by a Martin roof.

Our sheet metal shop is one of Marc's great loves. The challenges of designing and building custom, one-time-only projects will always keep Marc up at night!

Wayne Sullivan

Wayne Sullivan — Vice President

Wayne's primary responsibility is residential roofing, especially custom homes, but regardless of the roof, residential or commercial, Wayne is extraordinary in his creativity and unyielding high standard of quality. While Wayne is well qualified to deal with any roof, he is particularly good at slate and metal standing seam. Regardless of your type of roof, from shingles to slate, or shakes to copper standing seam — a roof from Wayne is as good as it gets.

Paula Spradlin

Paula Spradlin — Office Manager

Paula is most likely who will answer the phone and get you going in the right direction. Paula is pretty good at this as she has been with us for 39 years. In fact, if Paula can't help you, we all have a problem. At the end of the day, both Marc and Wayne really work for Paula.
